Heritage Trail

Capture the spirit of the Goldrush days and follow the heritage trail from Youndegin to Tammin. Head south from Cunderdin along Cubbine Street (also known as the Quairading Road). Turn left at Goldfields Road and travel on what was the original trail to the Kalgoorlie Goldfields. Along the way call in at the old Police Outpost – the original settlement in the area – and Well at Youndegin before visiting Hunts Well just outside Tammin.

Bulgin Rock Reserve

Take in a short scenic drive from Cunderdin or Meckering through the countryside to a popular, picturesque picnic spot at Bulgin Rock Reserve. With an abundance of wildflowers and a variety of birds it’s particularly pleasant during the spring months but a climb to the top will bring the reward of panoramic views at any time of the year. Turn off the Great Eastern Highway 12 kms west of Cunderdin along Collins Road.

Quelagetting

Soak up the country atmosphere and scenery on this is a pleasant drive through the farming districts of Cunderdin and Meckering. Head north along the Cunderdin/Wyalkatchem Road, left onto Minnivale Road, left at Quelagetting Road, past the old school site (this building is now located at the Cunderdin Museum) then left at the Meckering/Dowerin Road and meander your way back through to Meckering.

Old School Sites

Take a step back in time and visit the original school sites in the area – all of which have now been located and signposted. Although most of the buildings have long since been dismantled, some of the ruins, trees and play areas can still be recognised.

Golden Pipeline

Still considered one of the most amazing engineering feats in Australia’s history, the Golden Pipeline weaves its way from Mundaring to Kalgoorlie – servicing towns like Cunderdin and Meckering along the way. Follow the pipeline west or east depending on your itinerary to discover more about our history and the growth of the Wheatbelt region.
