About Sandalwood Units

  • Units are 2 bedroom & 2 bathroom.
  • The units can be rented to a single person or a couple.
  • Rents are reviewed annually by the Shire.
  • Rent is to be paid fortnightly via direct debit.
  • The Bond is held with the Bond Administration Centre for the duration of the tenancy, and will be refunded to the tenant following a final inspection of the unit if no damage is caused (except fair wear & tear)
  • Water usage is included in the Lease Agreement at a set price and is incorporated into the fortnightly rent payment.
  • Electricity, phones and internet is the responsibility of the tenant and they will need to arrange accounts with the providers of their choice.
  • Personal Contents Insurance is the responsibility of the tenant.  

Application Process

  • Applicants can obtain a Waitlist application Form from the Cunderdin Meckering Cottages Homes Inc, to register on the Waitlist.
  • Applicant is then added to the Waitlist.
  • When a unit becomes available, a suitable applicant is selected to move into the available unit based on Waitlist Policy.
  • On notification of vacancy, the applicant then applies to Shire of Cunderdin and completes a Residency Application Form and a date is arranged for tenancy to commence.
  • On the day the tenancy is due to commence, applicants will review all Policy and Procedure documents, sign a Lease Agreement and pay their Bond (equal to 4 weeks rent) and their first 2 weeks rent, prior to getting the keys.

About Sandalwood - Palliative Residential Unit

  • 3 Bedroom & 3 Bathroom unit – two separate areas for patients and a carer/staff member quarters.
  • Owned, maintained & managed by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Insured by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Cleaned by the Shire of Cunderdin prior to use.
  • Furnished by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Personal property of client and carer/staff member is not insured by Shire
  • No charge to the Client/Patient

 

About Sandalwood Respite Care Unit

(Not manned by staff) 

  • 3 Bedroom & 3 Bathroom unit.
  • Owned, maintained & managed by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Insured by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Cleaned by the Shire of Cunderdin prior to use.
  • Furnished by the Shire of Cunderdin.
  • Length of occupancy – Negotiable.
  • Personal property of Client and Carer/Staff member is not insured by the Shire.
